One day Maque told me, “We should go to Laredo and hitchhike.” He said, “Somebody from Encinal will pick us up and somebody else will bring us back.” I said, “Okay, let’s do it.” So we went out to the highway, and sure enough, here comes somebody and they stop and ask, “You all are going to Laredo?” “Yeah” “Get on”
They took us to Laredo. Maque said, “See.” So we walked around in Laredo. “Do you want to go and eat?” he asked me. “Yeah.” So we went and ate a hamburger. He said, “Let’s walk down San Bernardo Street towards the highway and someone will pick us up and take us back to Encinal. Here comes some Encinal people and they stop, “Are you all going back to Encinal?” “Yeah.” “Okay, get on.”
He said, “Do you see how easy that is. You can just go to Laredo and come back. Somebody from Encinal will take you there and somebody will bring you back.” I thought, yeah, that’s what happened. I think I did it again with Agapito or Sije. They dropped us off at the Mercantile when we got back to Encinal.
