SINGING IN THE NIGHT 

There were several older men that would play their guitars and sing late at night.  One of them didn’t have his two middle fingers on his hand.  He would play the guitar with his fingers like that.  Two of them would sing in the middle of the night, like 2 or 3am,

The night would be real still and you would wake up to hear them singing off in the distance.  It sounded like enchanted music.  It was real simple music, two guitars and them singing harmony.   That sounded real nice.  We would be listening to that and fall asleep again. 

I remember when it was Mother’s Day or Valentines Day, different guys would pay to have them sing to their wives or mothers.  You could hear them singing around the town in the middle of the night.  It was really nice.
